History
The ST-A was used in the Ryan School right off the assembly line, and was actually completed on August 10, 1937.
It was involved in a crash on September 26, 1937 and then rebuilt for the school. There is reason to believe that there were plans to sell it to Catherine Cheung of Los Angeles, but the sale has never been confirmed.
It was flown in October 1938 by E.G. “Buddy” Butler Jr. Of Memphis, Tennessee.
Then it was purchased in June 1938 by Charles E. Wright for a price of $3500.00. he used it for student training, Air Shows, and pleasure flights. In 1941 he sold it to Robert Pepper who used it in the CPTP program.
The aircraft was destroyed in 1941 or 1943 in a landing accident with a Fairchild.
The last registered owner was Grady H. Montgomery, who purchased the remains.
Final disposition unknown, Details of the accident unknown, parts could still exist.
