History
On August 17th 1937 the aircraft was crated and shipped to Ewing and McDonald Company in new Orleans, Louisiana to be shipped via steamship to South Africa and the Haller Aviation Pty. Ltd. Company. On November 30th 1937 it was issued South African registry ZS-ALZ. In 1940 the aircraft was taken over by the SAAF, and given the designation 1437. Serving initially at 2AS, Randfontein. All five of the Ryan’s taken over served only for a short while before becoming instructional airframes at 69AS, AFS Germiston. All were scrapped. The registration was cancelled July 30th, 1937.
